I went to a meeting...

I am a college senior now, but when I was a sophomore in HS I got the PtoP flyer. I was like your step-daughter. I couldn't believe I got chosen by a past President to go to Australia for a month. My dad told me that I
couldn't go. I insisted so using his quality parenting skills, he took me to the meeting. I was heartbroken to see that there were about 150 other "chosens". The cost was also an issue. When I found out I had to write letters to companies and raise the money on my own, the excitement dwindled. Maybe take you stepdaughter to the meeting. I guarentee her excitiment will quickly go away.

p.s. I have heard from many people who have gone that it was an awesome experience. I just think the way they go about it might be wrong.
