Trioramas & Diorama Help
By Joy

Clip to ScrapBook
I like to make trioramas with my third graders. The best part of making these is that all of the finished products are the same size. That never happens with shoebox dioramas. You also avoid the steps of covering the advertising
on the shoe box. For some children, the task of covering the box is a real nightmare.

To make the triorama, cut a very large square of card stock or thick construction paper. Fold the square in half along the diagonal and then do it again on the opposite side. Next, cut one of the four folded lines to the center point. Fold and either glue or staple the paper in place to create

the triorama.

Once the students complete the projects, they can be attached back to back to create a really neat looking display wheel.

I have had a lot of success with these. I hope that someone else will be able to use the idea also.

DIORAMA HELP: Lisa if this is the first time that you are creating dioramas with your class, I suggest that you do a lot of modeling. I also suggest that the first time these projects are completed, they should be made in the classroom. Make sure that you have some good examples of what you expect. You may also want to create a grading checklist or rubric so that your students will know what items must be included in the project and also how you will be assessing them. After you have successfully completed them in class, they can be assigned for home projects.

Good Luck!
Joy
