I have a split grade 2/3 class this year. I can tell you a little about what I do but I am very lucky in that I have 11 students with a teachers aide. I teach on a reserve so many of my students have academic and behaviour
problems. I am able to combine some subjects such as science, social studies and health but of course I do math and language arts separately. I have split the classroom and have grade 2's on one side and the 3's on the other. The grade 3's are able to do some independent work so that is great. I get one grade started on their activity and give the other grade a simple fun activity

to do or they work on their puzzle books while I am explaining. Then I switch over. You need to be more organized I think with activities and such for them to do when work is done. I write down for each grade what they are doing for the morning and go over it so they know what to do next. Once the routine is set up it works great. I also do some centre activities.
