Cursive
By Carson

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 4th grade and we don't have time in our schedule to actually teach handwriting. The kids have a workbook to practice, so I usually use that as my Do Now. The kids learn cursive in 3rd grade and honestly I don't
care what they write when they come to my class, but I know our 5th grade teachers are very strict about it. Funny story that goes with this: 3 years ago, my first year teaching I assummed that the kids knew and wrote in cursive in 4th grade. On the first day of school I put some instructions on the board so when the kids came in they could get into the normal routine right away. Some
of the kids, after my prompt began putting their backpacks in the closet and started the morning task. One boy just sat there and when I asked him if anything was wrong he said, "Miss C, can you write on the board in English, I can't read that"
