Most school districts in my area (and businesses as well) have off in celebration of Columbus Day. However, I teach in a very progressive, liberal district, where it has become "politically incorrect" to celebrate this holiday. That's too bad, because many of us could use an extra day for planning and refocusing right about now...oh well. For those of you that are lucky enough - have a great day!
