Subs treated differently By Heather

Oh my goodness. I just wrote a message titled "Teachers who think that they are better than subs", and I got slammed with responses from TEACHERS who thought that I was being silly. I am still getting messages from teachers| who were offended by my message..... I totally understand what you are going through. In my first year, I went through the same thing. Now that I am an established sub at the schools where I work I don't get treated like "THE SUB" I am welcomed. I do see other subs being treated that way though. It stinks, really bad. I have heard two teachers talking about a certain sub right | | in front of her face, and I have heard a teacher tell a sub "What do you know, you are just the sub" I know subs that have been subbing longer than some teachers have been alive! They have more knowledge, and experience than most teachers. In fact, one particular sub that I call my mentor, has been subbing for 30 years. She is wonderful, and she gives me great tips on how to handle unruly children. My advice to you is to ignore their words and actions. They have a serios problem, not with you but theirselves. Maybe they feel threatened by certain subs. Maybe being a butthole is their actual personality. Who knows. Just do your job, and go on. If a teacher buts in to your conversation with another student, tell her politly to kiss off!
