tough class
By Pat

Clip to ScrapBook
don't have any 'solution' for you ~ my class this year is VERY tough too. They have a very hard time quieting down for any type of instruction, they are SO loud and so far I've had parental complaints that the work is too
hard from one and the work is too easy from another...I have a very volatile boy who has severe temper tantrums and runs out OF THE SCHOOL BUILDING... and I have no para support.
But I will tell you what has helped a little ~ note every improvement that they make!...strive for improvement, not perfection....Whisper...give them a few minutes of chat time before you begin a quiet activity
(use a timer)....use a little bell to get thier attention before giving directions...do not raise your voice to speak above the roar....stand quietly with a watch or a stop watch and let them know how much time they are wasting...you can make up those minutes during recess...completely ignore any who call out w/o raising hands, even if they are giving a correct answer...THis is my 10th year in grade 2 and I am really having a hard time too...a lot of ADD types in my room and a mix of very high kids and VERY low ones. Any advice out there for Sasha and I?
