In the same boat

At the ripe old age of 48 and trying, without success, to get my own classroom, I too wonder if age plays a factor. I do plan on emphasizing, at any interviews I might get, my life experience and the fact that I still have at least 10 - 20 years left (no retirement fund). In addition, I can guarantee that burn out won't be a factor, they'll have me for a good long time.

I am down to doing a weekly scan of teacher employment websites (used to be daily but that was too negative) but as with most places, there seems to be a glut of teacher candidates and schools have serious budget problems.

I am getting more and more discouraged and as the newest graduates join the employment search ranks I wonder what it will do to my chances.

Still hoping but.......
