Old Yeller By Beth

I have read Old Yeller to grade five classes several times. They love it. They would lament over being finished - as though they missed the characters.
The Secret of NIMH is also very good and A Cricket in Times Square.
Poppy is good too and leads very well to owl or mouse research, both of which are very interesting.
