support staff

I agree with the previous post. Also, how much time is he working each week with your building/district ELL teacher? He or she should have suggestions for you. By law all ELL students must receive services from an ELL teacher. The amount of time will depend on how forward-thinking your district is and who is the administrator that oversees the ELL teachers in the district. I'd recommend asking those people what support they can give you. I've worked with the same kinds of kids, and if they don't get adequate services in their first years of American schooling they will likely have problems their entire school career.
