think social goals
By Danyelle

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi! From what your saying, his academic skills are really high. So, you have to take a different perspective. Usually when your working with a child in a resource setting you think academics. Often with a child with PDD that's not the need. Think social goals. For instance he may be laughing at the other child and have no idea that could make the other child sad. In fact he may not even understand or be able to identify the emotions. I do emotion scripts where I give the senerio and the child has to identify how he would feel or how another person would feel. I use those situations that come up during the day as senerios. I'm always amazed at the social cues that my students miss.
