    Response to quitting
    By Jen

I know I said I'm positive I would quit. I'm not a quitter, but these two situations sound extreme. Of course I would try everything possible in my power before making such a decision. It is a huge challenge for a teacher to take on those situations and be successful. (Even more so for a sub.) I greatly admire those who are able to do it. You have an extremely valid point about these kids being the ones who need us the most. Perhaps it would be interesting to see how the students would respond to seeing the sub a second time with a plan in mind (now that the sub is aware of what they are going into) and a positive but firm approach about not having the kind of the day that happend before. I guess it could send the message that the sub cares about the students. Maybe it would make the difference. I don't know. It seems like there has be a way to get through somehow. But how????
Any suggestions on how to make it through days like that and approaching a class that is to the extreme as these two classes were? What would you say when you came back?
