1st year and difficult parents!
By Julie

Clip to ScrapBook
First of all, I completely second everything that was just posted in the last reply. I am also in my second year and it's amazing how much perspective I've gained already. I had a hard first year, and also had a very difficult
student with an even more difficult parent (I teach 3rd ). I didn't get much respect from either the student or the parent. The arms crossed with attitude sounds exactly like some of the stuff I dealt with! I went through a lot of tears and stress with this situation (thankfully I have a very supportive principal!), but I lived. Now that student who gave me so much grief (and
whose parent insisted that I treated her unfairly) is one of those students who comes up and gives me hugs and says she misses me!

Last year it was hard to believe that things get easier, but they do. Your first year is something you just get through and then breath a sigh of relief when it's over!

Hang in there!
