I am in the same situation as Jerry.I work nights at the Post Office and work three to four afternoons a week in Oakland high schools.Only one rough day so far with three classes in a row at a hard core school.Today was great-eleven Ninth graders for two periods.Their assignment was to watch and take notes on Pleasantville with Reese Witherspoon!
I thought they made be a little alienated by watching a film with no Blacks or Latinos in it but they found the film pretty intriguing.They wanted to know what things were like for me in the 1950's!Told them I was too little to remember.
