    that you can't force a child to chose whether he wants to be left or right handed.....

    I too teach special ed and I also have a k who has not chosen which hand to write with....and she suggested that what I can do is see that he completes each activity he does with the same hand that he started with....so for example if he is cutting out a pumpkins and he begins cutting with his left hand then I should encourage him to finish cutting that pumpkin with his left hand....and he does go along with that...

    also I posted some suggestions for strengthening fine motor skills on the k page under a post called Help fine motor skills....it's a little bit down from where you posted....it gives a lot of good ideas on activites to use with your kiddo's and they're fun.....however one I don't think I added was using those little wind up toys....you know the ones you wind up and they walk funny or hop or something....those little wind ups are great for those pincher fingers we use in writing....

    I work pretty closely with my OT so if you have any questions I can get answers for you....my ot is wonderful!
