Clip to ScrapBook
sj, I tell that story every year. While I don't have a copy of it in front of me, it's at school, I can can tell you briefly how it goes and you can add or delete details as you tell it!

Once there was a little boy who
was bored and had nothing to do in his house. His mother thought of a riddle for him to solve and told him, "I know of a little red house with no doors, no windows with a star inside.See if you can find it outside." So the little boy looks and looks, couldn't find it, and walks down the road to where a neighbor girl lives. He asks her the riddle and together they look for the answer. No
luck, so they ask her father who is working around the farm. He says he doesn't know and tells them to go ask the old woman who lives down the road as she is very wise and would probably know the answer. Away they go and knock on her door. She invites them in and tells them that she really doesn't know either, but they should go ask the wind outside. Out they go into the orchard. The wind blows and knocks an apple down at their feet. The little boy suddenly realizes what the answer is and together they run back to his house. He shows the apple to his mother and tell her he knows what the little red house with no doors and no windows is, but where is the star inside? She takes a knife,( secretly take out a knife and an apple and make a cut almost halfway down the apple) and makes a cut and shows him the star inside!
