Research shows again and again that children learn best when connections are made between what they're learning and their own lives. Children also learn best when their parents are very involved in their education. As far as the teacher checking the answers, I give homework that will encourage children to practice skills and think critically. I don't base my grades on it. If a child is not doing their homework it will show up in other assessments. And how exactly does one's economic success correlate with how many doors they have, anyway?
