Hard situation
By Renee

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm so sorry to hear about your gym teacher. I can't say that I've ever been in this situation and I think it will be pretty hard on the kids. What age do you teach? That will make a difference as to how you deal with
death. If they are older students I would talk about it and their feelings in an open and honest manner. Most older kids have experienced death before. Young children will be more difficult. They may have never been through a death and don't quite understand it. I know our principal always calls us together (or e-mails us) and has a plan in place for unexpected situations. Maybe yours
will too. Perhaps you should also talk to your counselor and she what he/she suggests for your students age group. Sorry I am not much help, but I know it will be a difficult situation.
