Sub call stress
By Lainy

Clip to ScrapBook
Ken, thank you for your response. I'm currently work in a district that has 10 elementary schools, one special needs school, 2 middle schools, and 1 high school. I've been told by many permanent teachers that there are
days when there aren't enough available subs to fill positions. I feel it's because there are several districts within a fairly tolerable driving distance in which subs are also employed.

I've also been in situations where I'll get a call from a secretary of a school that I frequent only to find out that she was told there were no more subs available. I wonder if the Director of Subservices

in my district is aware of this. I feel it's overlooked because it's a difficult job to fill. We've had 3 different sub callers in the past 3 years. It's certainly diminishes ones chances of gaining any rapport with the sub caller.

I'm so relieved to have found this website/forum. I've been searching for answers to many questions, but to no avail --- until finding this site.
