homework
By Jodi

Clip to ScrapBook
I too give homework. Math everynight and spelling weekly with worksheets. But I find that most of my students don't complete the assignments and I spend frustrating class time determining why homework wasn't complete. If
it is done, the students are just writing down any answer to fill in the blanks. Class time doesn't give enough time for meaningful assessment. So I was using homework to give the students more practice. I believe my problem is the lack of parental support at home. The parents are working or otherwise not available to help. So much of the time the students just blow off the assignment. I've
tried rewards and punishment but neither seems to make much of a difference. I don't feel that we have adequate class time to cover all the required standards and if the homework isn't complete, we just have to move on. What should I do?
