writer's notebook
By Mayra

Clip to ScrapBook
I took special training in Columbia University in NY. A writer's notebook is just that, a writer's notebook. We use it to write our special memoirs. We read many memoirs written by such authors as Cynthia Ryland, and Patricia
Polacco. There are many others, but these are my favorite. Whenever we share a book, we compare the memoir they focused on or their 'slice of life'. We then compare a time in our life when we had similar things happen to use. They share in groups these moments for about three minutes. Then they go back to their desks (we are in the rug area) and they write away. For homework
they are to write any other memoir they wish. Make sure they don't confuse these moments with writing a diary. Next day, we share. Always hold a mini-lesson on a particular skill or craft. Good luck!!!
