individualized spelling
By Jj

Clip to ScrapBook
Each child in my class has his/her own spelling list. This takes some teacher time, but I think is worth it. I pretest the kids on high frequency words. Any words they get wrong will be there spelling words. Choose as many as you want each week, then they can practice them in centers (on dry erase boards, on the felt board, with wikki stix, with magna doodles, on the computer, etc.) This seems like a lot of work but once you get going it really works well. With older kids they can quiz each other. With younger kids, you'll want to quiz them or have the older ones quiz the younger ones.
