I understand...
By David

Clip to ScrapBook
I feel for you. I have enough college education to be able to teach to grad students, but I am not allowed near a classroom because I have not taken some specialized classes. The public statements about there being a teacher
shortage is a giant load of $*(&*#^&! Esp with all of the recent layoffs.

I was going to move up to Minneapolis/St Paul and get my certification while driving a school bus (I do that now) and substitute. Except that the sub programs have been cancelled since there are so many unemployed teachers in the area.

You do not say where you are at. I have been searching for work

in Iowa, MN, WI, IN and IL and have a feel for what is available. One thing that might work for you is this: Look into driving a school bus and then in the early evening, teach at one of the private centers (Sylvian or someplace). Depending on which U you are near, there might be other options.

I am frustrated too, and understand. Comming from a family filled with educators, I see both sides. Neither side is pretty right now.

David
