Don't let other people's opinions form yours. I have a group this year and I was warned about the parents---they are not a problem for me because I don't let them be a problem. I have stated clear guidelines and remind
them to follow them.

I definitely don't agree with the student not being accountable for missing work. If she doesn't get enough of an education she won't need that money to go to college because she'll never get there!!

I would have all my expectations in writing and at back to school night give one to each parent. This way it's in writing and they can't say they didn't know. The

only time I would make exceptions is for serious medical problems.

Good luck! If the information you've received is correct it sounds like mom needs a life!!
