MTW type materials
By Sue Meiners

Clip to ScrapBook
Are you familiar with the math curriculum materials from the Math Learning Center? They have a wonderful K-2 program entitled "Bridges".
They also have an "Opening Eyes" program for 3rd and 4th graders.
Much
of their philosophy comes from the MTW materials. They have a constructivist view of mathematical learning. They center in on the visual approach to problem solving.
Another exciting program is "Trailbazers" math from Kendall/Hunt. They have at their heart the combination of the NCTM standards tied in with science principles and even literature ideas. This creates an interesting
and invigorating mix.
I have used both of these curriculums in the K-3 area. I'm thinking that they can be contacted on the Net for more information.
Have fun, Susan!
