Trailblazer math
By SM

Clip to ScrapBook
Dear JD,

I am also involved in the process of piloting the "Trailblazer" math program in my 3rd grade classroom. So far I'm excited with the possibilities. I have almost finished the first unit.

Trailblazer math
has a heavy science foundation so I contacted some of the environmental resource people in my area of the NW. They are helping me to create an extra connection between the math and our new science studies.

For instance, in unit one the idea of "sampling" of a population in introduced. The data from the sample is used in graphs etc. Well today I took my class outside to introduce

the idea of transects.

I see exciting possibilites on the horizon. I would be willing to keep in email contact with you on the process we are both undertaking.
