If you want to take a page out of Harry Wong's book, break down ALL of your procedures and practise, practise, practise... (Saw Wong last week, and came away thinking PROCEDURES FOR EVERYTHING!) This goes from asking for help, handing things in, sharpening pencils, fire drills, bathroom, recess, lunch..... Take the first two weeks of school and don't worry about teaching subjects until you have taught the procedures. I have spent the last week touching on subjects just to teach the procedures within each subject. I guess I did it before, but now am SOOO much more conscious of what I am doing. Anyway, Harry Wong says that if you spend 2 weeks teaching procedures, you will be able to spend the rest of the year teaching. If the class slips on a procedure, practice it to death until they are doing it right again.
    Good luck!
