September 11-teacher from NY
By Carol

Clip to ScrapBook
I feel that it is important to let the students set the tone for the one year anniversary. See if they mention the anniversary and go from there. Personally, I will discuss the anniversary in class bc many of my students have been deeply affected by the attacks by in one way or another. As a second grade teacher, I will be working on We Love NY Posters, writing actostic poems for AMERICA, coloring in American Flags, and reading a story about healing after the WTC attacks. In NYC teachers have been given guides on how to address issues surrounding 9-11, and will be working on themed work, for example, what makes a hero. Each teacher should deal with the anniversary in his or her own way or follow the rules set by the school.
