I agree wholeheartedly that you should stick to your guns. As parents, one of the most useful things we can teach our children is to put things into perspective. I really think that many parents don't have this skill.
Just look at how drivers flip out so easily over another driver cutting in front or hesitating at a traffic light. Maybe I'm waxing too philosophical here, but it seems that our society has lost its ability to just "let little things go." If parents would just tell little Susie or Jimmy to just "let it go" when they come home complaining about the seating arrangement, they would be doing
their children (and our students), and SOCIETY a huge favor. I personally hope to see a generation more willing to accept the little trials and tribulations of daily life. Let's try to teach them what IS worth complaining about and working to change, and what is too small to bother with. OK, I'm off my soapbox.
