a positive thought

Clip to ScrapBook
We have all worked with students in that "gray area" with IQs of 70s and 80s, and I'm sure we've done all we could to help them within the regular classroom. Here's a ray of hope. In our county, when they begin high school
in the 9th grade, they can choose vocational courses of study that allow them to train for excellent jobs. I have several former students who are in vocational training programs. It warms my heart to hear them tell about their classes and their future plans. They have such high self esteem compared to when they were struggling in my 6th grade class.

I think it is our job to keep

these kids from giving up before they get to the high school, which is where their options open up for them. Just keep encouraging them so they won't become disenchanted with education. There is hope for them and they can flourish in the right environment!
