art class discipline
By cherylyn

Clip to ScrapBook
i am so excited to talk to another new elementary art teacher. this is my second year and by now the kids already have the automatic responce to my dicipline plan. i have 6 tables with four chairs at each one. these are
"teams," i have numbered them 1-6. on each table i have a small bin that contains the common supplies, scissors, crayons, pencils, etc. when the students enter the room they go to their assigned seat/team, and i assign a score keeper for each class. this person will listen to my remarks and record a star next to teams that are doing well, and a frown face to those who need improvement.
this gives each team the knowledge of which teams are doing well. when reportcards are issued, i reveal which team has earned the most stars, and they recieve a prize, i usually do candy. since i have 24 classes, it is different for each one, but this works great for 1st-5th grade equally. if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me. i hope this helps.
