HI
I have 3 pieces of advice for you

1st never interrupt a parent no matter how tempting it may be....let them say their piece and listen carefully....even take notes at first if need be so you can refer back in case
they rattle you. Admit it if you don't know an answer by saying something like I really don't know the answer to that but I will find out as quickly as I can and call you with the answer. Don't argue with them - think of them as your customer and the customer is always right...if you happen to disagree say something like I can see you are concerned about Jimmy's _______ and I can understand
that. I'll take what you're saying underadvisement.

2nd if you make a mistake admit it, appologize for it and move on. You won't make the same mistakes twice....but I've found it's better to admit and appologize - parents are more accpeting when you are up front with your mistakes

and finally - I know you're young and probably not yet a parent but try to put yourself in their position....I'll never forget when my son's teacher said to me in MARCH ---well now that I finally like Johnny.....all I could think of was what????? it's March and now that you like my son?????? I never heard another word of the conference I was so upset by that statement....so try to not say something like that it's quite hurtful even though she really didn't mean it that way....and my son in now 23 and I've never forgotten that statement!

Good luck don't let the rumors scare you you know how that works....they get bigger than real life after a while!
