Before/AfterCare
By Amanda

Clip to ScrapBook
My school is a small Lutheran school. Our aftercare of about 20 students is held in the auditorium/lunchroom. We have a parent volunteer who runs it. They sit at tables and do their homework (on good days) or read/color/write, and then at 4:00 or so they go outside. Sometimes it's totally wild down there, and then as teachers we sort of take turns going down and trying to help settle them and give a little homework help (if we're not too tired or cranky ourselves). Last year there were a few days they couldn't be downstairs (I don't remember why), so they played outside until the Pre-K/K teacher left (she leaves first usually) and then they went to her classroom. Hope this helps!
