Setting the tone for the day...

Jim, I couldn't agree with you more about taking the time first thing in the morning to explain what is expected of the students in your charge. It usually takes a good fifteen minutes for me, too, in this initial discussion. I think it's important during this time to also continue establishing rapport with the kids. I try to focus on what they NEED TO DO rather than what not to do. Sometimes this alone is a challenge, as they seem programmed to say, "Don't do this" and "Don't say that."

I like the idea of squeezing in some games during the day if you're on track with lesson plans. Any game ideas you can share with the rest of us?
