Clip to ScrapBook
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, Donna. I know I have some students that are poor readers because they never read, their parents never read to them, etc... I have a jungle area that is a reading corner in my room that the kids beg to use on a daily basis. They are allowed to add their time spent there as part of their reading time for the month. Some of them need a "reason" to read - because it's not always enjoyable for them. At the same token, the parents need to know their child is getting graded if they don't read, so they tend to encourage them in that area more. My students that enjoy reading were thrilled that they were getting a grade for doing something they enjoy, and were doing anyway! I guess there are 2 ways to look at it.
