I teach residential, mentally ill, adolescents. I have asked a local department store chain to donate wooden stools or chairs that my students can refurbish and embelish. We will raffle these items to staff to raise money to donate to an organization that the students want to select. We will brainstorm various organizations and the issues they represent. We will come to an agreement on which organization they want to support. Because my students are emotionally fraile, our focus wll be on supporting our community with just a moment of silence to remember the human spirit of people on 9/11
