I have found it to be very effective. The students do watch when the light blinks and worry that it will go to red. I am mainly using it during quiet work time at this point. I only have a small special education class, so there is not as much noise on a normal basis as 28 students would make. The students do not watch the light instead of me when I am teaching. It has been great for helping them to monitor their own noise.
As for the other teachers and my principal--they already knew I was not afraid to go out on a limb. Actually, one other teacher has purchased one and the principal is planning to put one in the cafeteria for lunch time!!Good luck!
