a bit more about my problem
By JJ

Clip to ScrapBook
this child does not have an IEP. After this incident yesterday, I took out my cell phone and called his mother immediately. I told her that I would stay at school as late as I needed to in order to meet with her. She came
after school and I asked the vice principal to meet with us. I was never informed ahead of time about this child, but the office/administrators knew about him. I told his mother that I am going to refer him to the child study team and to expect a call from them soon and she informed me that she already filled out paperwork and he was supposed to be tested in the summer. When I asked
if he was tested she said "I don't know" Okay, so you don't know if your own child was tested or not. See, part of the problem with many of these kids if that their parents are no better than they are. It's sad, but in many cases true. I took a look at his records (the folder was thicker than any I have ever seen) and you would not believe some of the things this kid has done in the past. My VP used to be a teacher of emotionally disturbed children and she thinks that every teacher should be able to handle situations like she did. Problem is 1)the class size is different 2) I am not trained as she was 3) I worry what this does to the other kids in my class.
