Hi! Good luck with your centers... this is the first year I am trying centers during my small groups. (Cross your fingers for me)

One thing that i have found very helpful, and read many times in my search for center
ideas, is to PRACTICE routines over and over and over. Your centers will fail if the kids do not know what to do, how to act, and what you expect.

I am spending 2 weeks on getting into the routine of centers (1st grade). Each day I am introducing a new skill (i.e- rotation, center folders, quiet voices, etc.) and reinforcing the skills I already taught. While they are in the centers,

I am walking around am praising and reminding. I am not doing small group reading during this time. I figure that it will be more benifical in the long run if I wait and make sure my routines are set.
Try typing in centers on this sites search- it brought up a lot of resources that I used.
