Getting sub calls
By Deni

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Gayle,

Last year was my first year subbing. I had one call in the month of September. Calls started to pick up in October. But I was the busiest during the last month of school when teachers were using their personal
days before the end of the year. I don't know about your district, but here it takes a school year to get established as a good, reliable sub. The building where I became established last year changed school districts (an historic move in Ohio, from what I hear!) and the "new" district hired the same permanent sub from their other elementary buildings to cover "my" building. So, essentially,
I'm reestablishing myself again! I'm approved in several other districts now, so I'm hoping I'll get called most days. You may need to make some calls to building principals or teachers you may know in the district to let them know you're subbing. Hope this helps! Good luck and I wish you all the best in your substitute teaching adventures!

Deni, rural Ohio sub
