While I believe everyone is allowed to have their own beliefs and in 25 years of teaching this is only the third child I have had who doesn't celebrate birthdays etc. In my case if I didn't make a fuss of their birthdays and Christmas, Father's Day, Mother's Day these children may never end up doing it throughout their early years as they will probably always be with that student. I teach in a fairly small school where the children move on together, So yes people can have their own beliefs but don't forget there are all the other children.
