substitute plans
By Peg

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi! I did my master's project on what teachers should do to make the day go smoothly for the substitute and the kids, and this is what I found out...leave your schedule, a list of extra duties, attendance and lunch count
procedures, arrival and dismissal routines, schedules for children who leave the classroom for any reason (special ed., band, etc.), names of helpful people... both staff and students, procedures for getting the class quiet, bathroom, hall travel, etc., a list of medical concerns, emergency dismissal instructions, classroom rules and routines, acceptable rewards, extra work, and the discipline
policy. Make sure the lesson plans are explicit, and explain where to find all necessary materials. Be sure to prep your students and review expectations. Ask for feedback from the subs and the students as well, and don't forget to thank the sub.
