teacher's assistant
By Susan

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi.

I was a T.A. for several years, and I appreciated the teachers I worked with telling me exactly what they wanted me to do -- it was when they weren't clear with me about what they wanted that I felt uncomfortable.

The
suggestions made by the previous poster are good ones. The teachers and the kids always treated me with respect, and I appreciated that. Having things to do with the kids that I could make my own was also wonderful.

I think being a first-year teacher and learning to be someone else's boss at the same time must be very difficult (and I had a lot of sympathy for the first-year teacher

I worked with who was doing precisely what you are). If your aide has any smarts, she will recognize that it takes time for someone to learn to use an aide well.

Best wishes for the coming year!

Susan
