Congrats to a great start, Elaine!

You gave me exactly what I needed....some experience-speaking advice and a boost to get going. Have the lit. studies worked well for you this early in the year? Any thoughts or advice of things I should work on to prep
them for that? I usually start those about Dec., but of course want to start sooner. I know that some of my students will have had practice in discussion groups, but I'll have about seven who won't even know what it's like to read independently. I'm hoping that the experience from the other students will help guide those who haven't had lit. discussions.
I'm so excited about reading
that I haven't really spent much time with our new math curriculum - Everyday Math. Mainly because I'm not worried as it seems so conservative after teaching with Investigations. However, it's a step in the right direction for our staff, so we're going to "believe in the system"!
Keep up the good work on your great start!
