getting needed items donated

During our school's recent open house for parents, I had "Apples for the Teacher". I printed apples from my Print Shop program and wrote needed items on them. I put them in a basket and passed it around during the open house. Within two days, I had everything I had asked for delivered to the classroom. I asked for things that people could find around the house as well as purchase at Wal-Mart such as stationary, old greeting cards, egg cartons, ziplock baggies, ink cartridges for our word processor printers, etc.
