asserting one's self By mina
|
| I have come to realize that asserting your position at school can cause you to be labeled as difficult. I work with an aide and two other teachers during the day. Two have spread the "rumor" that I'm difficult to work with. I don't think so...I just make sure that I'm doing my job and not wasting time chatting with others when the students need my attention. I also don't tolerate other teachers being unfair or rude to my students. I explain my position politely, but all they hear is that I'm challenging them. I just think it's all about the kids and their needs, not the teacher's. I have learned to speak up for myself and my kids, and I don't worry about what is said about me. The teachers that really know me appreciate me.
