Although this is the first year that I am subbing also, a training course that I enrolled in this summer stated that once you get your foot in the door, a good idea to get yourself established more quickly is to give an introduction letter with a sub resume to all of the teachers in that school. That way they got to know you a little and your background. I can not tell you for sure if this will work, being that school has not startd for me as well. Hope maybe this helps.
