Courage

Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel is one of my favorites with lots of interesting characters (their names have double meanings)who must use courage to overcome evils and to stand up for their beliefs. Plus there are two books that continue the story of the main character, Shade. I found that my students will often choose to buy/sign them out after I read Silverwing to them. You may find this with the Hatchet, too, as the story is continued in another book but the title escapes me at the moment.
