packets for hw
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach fifth grade, and I would say that my students probably would not finish packets, either. In all of the years I have been teaching, I would say that very few of my students would have been able to maintain a packet
for homework. I don't believe that the majority of elementary school kids do a good job of completing long-term assignments. They are often lost or forgotten. The other teacher is to be congratulated if she is able to get kids to finish these each week.

My suggestion is to give them a homework folder, along with an assignment sheet, then give them just one worksheet per day to complete

in math. Give them one assignment in spelling per night. Collect them the very next day. Of course, they will also write down any projects they have to do, essays, etc.

I have never known any teachers who assign homework packets, and I know I wouldn't frustrate myself trying to track these down.
