Mentors
By Beth

Clip to ScrapBook
Last year was my first year teaching and I had an excellent mentor. She helped me so much, but I still did my own planning, copying, etc. We both taught on the same grade level. At first, she would plan her week and then
photocopy her plan book for me. From that, I got an idea of the skills she was covering and could plan for my class. Sometimes I would "steal" a lesson from her week, but most of the time I found my own way of doing things. By January, I could just ask her what she was planning on doing. By March, I just sort of figured out what else was left to do.

That method may work for you, since

you have to plan for yourself anyway. It would give the new teacher support, without making extra work for you.

As for that other teacher on your grade level, sharing is one thing, doing all her planning is another. You are doing too much!!! I too, am planning a wedding... I don't know how you are going to manage all of this if you don't stop being so nice! Good Luck.
